From a personal experience with strabismus surgery at the age of two, Dr. Brian Paul developed a lifelong passion for eye health. Raised in Thornhill, Ontario, he pursued that passion with purpose, earning an Honours Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences with a minor in Biology from the University of Waterloo. While completing his studies, he gained early clinical exposure working and volunteering at TLC Vision Centers in both Waterloo and Toronto.
Dr. Paul went on to graduate at the top of his class with a Doctorate of Optometry from NOVA Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. His diverse clinical training included externships at a cataract surgery center in Boca Raton, a private contact lens practice, as well as specialized rotations in Vision Therapy and pediatric eye care.
Since relocating to Dundas in 2011, Dr. Paul has provided full-scope optometric care to the community. He previously practiced at the Brantford Medical Centre, where he regularly lectured patients at the Diabetes Education Centre and presented at the Southern Ontario Stroke and Traumatic Brain Injury Conference, advocating for vision care in neurological recovery. In 2013, he helped bring the Eye See… Eye Learn program to the Brantford region.
A firm believer in lifelong learning and emerging technologies, Dr. Paul served on the Board of Directors for the Ontario Association of Optometrists from 2014 to 2022. At Mountain Eye Care, he brings his clinical expertise and passion for patient education to every eye exam. He is especially excited to now offer comprehensive myopia control services, including orthokeratology (Ortho-K) contact lenses (customized, non-surgical lenses worn overnight to gently reshape the cornea and slow the progression of nearsightedness in children and young adults).
Outside the office, you’ll often find Dr. Paul running local trails, mountain biking, or enjoying time with his wife, Shauna, and their children.
